LightTheMap is a competition built on trust. These guidelines keep the leaderboard honest and the community welcoming. Compete hard — and play fair.
Submit honest proof
- Only light cities you have personally visited.
- Use your own photos and real metadata. Do not download images, reuse other people's photos, or generate proof.
- Do not edit timestamps or coordinates, or use GPS spoofing to fake a location.
- If a reviewer asks for more evidence, provide it honestly or withdraw the submission.
Respect other travelers
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or personal attacks.
- No impersonation of other people, brands, or LightTheMap staff.
- Keep uploaded photos appropriate — no explicit, violent, or unlawful content.
Keep competition fair
- One personal account per traveler. Do not create multiple accounts to boost yourself.
- No coordinated boosting, trading approvals, or organized cheating.
- Do not attempt to bypass verification, rate limits, or platform security.
Enforcement
Submissions that break these guidelines may be rejected or have their points revoked. Repeated or serious violations can lead to a flagged trust level, temporary restrictions, or a permanent ban.
Every traveler has a trust level. New accounts are reviewed more strictly; consistently honest travelers earn faster reviews. Flagged accounts face additional scrutiny.
Reporting
If you see forged proof, harassment, or abuse, report it to trust@lightthemap.com. We review reports and act to protect the integrity of the leaderboard and the safety of the community.
